Welcome to Aromaticity 2025!
The concept of "aromaticity" has continuously evolved throughout history. Its effects manifest in observable ways, remaining a cornerstone in chemistry for describing benzene-like systems. However, the concept is not directly quantifiable and is subject to debate and diverse interpretations. Various theoretical approaches offer distinct perspectives, and a fully standardized definition of aromaticity has remained elusive.
The Aromaticity 2025 conference tackles this by bringing together experts with expertise in both experimental and theoretical backgrounds. This gathering seeks to establish the foundation for a more standardized definition of aromaticity, potentially leading to its official recognition by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
On behalf of the Aromaticity 2025 Organizing Committee, we extend a special invitation to chemists from across the globe to attend this unique and exciting event in Merida, Mexico, from January 27 to 30, 2025. We are confident that the stimulating program and stunning location will make Aromaticity 2025 an unforgettable experience.

Exploring the Heart of Yucatán
Mérida. The capital of Yucatán is a captivating blend of Mayan and Spanish cultures. This unique fusion is evident in its architecture, cuisine, and vibrant people. During your stay, we'll offer a selection of exciting excursions, including:
Uxmal. The ruins of the ceremonial structures at Uxmal represent the pinnacle of late Maya art and architecture in their design, layout and ornamentation, and the complex of Uxmal and its three related towns of Kabah, Labná and Sayil admirably demonstrate the social and economic structure of late Maya society.
Celestun. Celestun in Mexico is known for two things–beaches and flamingos. A coastal town on the Yucatán peninsular, it has a feeling that the best days are a little past it, yet the beach is really quite unspoiled and natural.
Chichen Itza. A UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula. This ancient Mayan city, renowned for its awe-inspiring architecture and rich cultural heritage, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past.
